Julie A. Scheib is the Section Head of the Insurance Coverage Group. Ms. Scheib is responsible for the supervision of the coverage sections in the Lafayette, New Orleans and Houston offices. For the past 31 years, her primary area of practice has been in insurance coverage, including the rendering of coverage opinions for insurance companies, and the representations of insurance companies in coverage disputes in both Declaratory Judgment Actions and in Direct Action lawsuits. In addition, Ms. Scheib has a specialization in Products Liability, and in the defense of the manufacturers and distributors of safety products manufactured and distributed for the use by industrial works. She was on the Board of Editors of the Tulane Law Review. Ms. Scheib was a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Walter F. Marcus, Jr. of the Louisiana Supreme Court.

    • Successfully defeated a Motion to Certify A Class consisting of the residents of an entire Parish (county) against a refinery.
    • Prevailed in the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal on a Motion for Summary Judgment on a coverage issue of first impression for an insurance company, thereby making favorable precedent under Louisiana law for the insurance industry.
    • Assisted underwriters in drafting a Pollution Exculsion that was approved by the Louisiana Commisioner of Insurance for use in Commercial General Liability Policies, thereby assisting underwriters in the use of a Pollution Exclusion that may be enforceable under Louisiana law.
